Hopping Through the Autumn Harvest

There is something about Autumn that brings on thoughts of cuddling. I imagine back in the old days that the onset of colored leaves wasn’t just a pretty sight, but a warning to figure out who was going to be warming your bed with you throughout the cold months of winter. This could be a real issue, especially in the northern climates. Without out a reliable bed warmer the chill of winter could be unbearable.

Of course this is coupled with the onset of all the harvesting work. So there you are, hip deep in corn or wheat or maybe peas trying to flirt with that cute guy with the scythe in the next field over. Once the vegetables are all gathered and preserved there is the hunt.

Ah hunting – a time to walk alone in the woods while the animals are all reacting to their own instincts about the coming cold. What better time for young, single men and women to meet away from the gossips. Maybe take a little time admiring the fall colors and test the waters for compatibility. No one is going to notice if you take a little time out of procuring food for the winter to do a little snogging. With perhaps a chance to test how well you fit together – for sleeping.

None of this applies to the way we live today, but the leaves still remind us of the old cycles. So it’s no wonder that a quiet walk under the colored leaves is one of the most romantic scenes I can think of.

  1. Thanks for the giveaway!! Super excited for this bloghop.
I love the autumn!! Favorite season out of the 4. Love the changing of the leaves and the beautiful colors. The smells and freshness of the air…just refreshing! Although getting an extra hour of sleep is great, having darker afternoons are not.

  10. My favorite thing about Autumn/Fall is the changing color of the leaves. They are so pretty. My least favorite thing is raking up those pretty leaves. LOL I love to curl up by the fire and read a hot romance book on a cold fall evening. Thanks for being part of the hop and for the chance to win.

  12. I love everything about Fall–the sights, sounds, smells, tastes, and touch (of the cool air). I especially love that the tourists are gone from my area, the lovely deserted beaches, and “sweater weather.” I am the queen of sweater twin sets!

  17. Thanks for joining in the hop. It was great to be introduced to your work.
My favorite part about autumn is that the cool weather gives me the perfect excuse to keep my oven full of yummy deliciousness that I really can’t do during two of the three other seasons. I love the feeling of being able to have yummy stuff baking while I nestle in with a good read.
